Transmissive switches which may also be termed as slotted interrupter switches have a wide range of applications for motion or position sensing.
They operate on the principle that an infra red light path is produced from an infrared emitting diode on one side of the slot to a photosensor on the opposite side of the central slot. When an object which is opaque to infra red light is placed in the slot the light signal to the photosensor is blocked thereby creating a solid state switch. Transmissive switches provide contactless sensing of linear or rotary motion and find applications in process and industrial controls, instrumentation, office equipment and consumer goods. A wide range of packages with varying depths and apertures are available and emitter/detector options include logic output. In addition assemblies can be supplied with custom length flying leads with connectors if required. |
