With the increase in demand for portability and reduced equipment size and where PCB area is at a premium, Surface Mount LEDs can provide an ideal solution. Package options have now been extended and include miniature chip types, PLCC-2 and PLCC-4 along with lensed variants in a spectrum of colours. By using the latest InAlGaP and InGaN materials, high intensity sunlight view requirements can be met. Options include multi-colour, full colour RGB, side emit and white light emission. Benefits also include lower production assembly costs due to automated insertion.
