For a flexible low cost solution to area lighting in panel instruments and for the illumination of Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD’s), backlights based on side looking emitters can be constructed in a wide range of sizes to suit the application.
The LED lamp emitters are placed along the edges of a machined or cast acrylic light guide and contain an efficient primary reflector on the underside the number of emitters used will be proportional to the cost and luminous intensity. The latest “TS” and InGaN LED emitters provide good visibility in high ambient light conditions and can offer ultra blue, true green and white light output. Individual discrete emitters can be supplied separately in a spectrum of colours. |
