| Winstar are pleased to announce that their industry standard 128x64 graphics module is now available with an innovative new backlight. The backlight utilises Red, Green and Blue LEDs in various combinations to produce up to seven different colours. The RGB channels are driven independently via their own pins on the PCB, with each requiring a typical 60mA.This display is ideally suited to Security and Machine Control applications, where an immediate visual indication can be important for the user.
Available in both STN and FSTN modes, this display is also available with or without a factory fitted touchscreen.

XR Lamp® 7090
In our high performance products ncluding modules and sub-assemblies we offer XLamp to produce excellent colour consistency. The XR7090 series may be driven up to 700mA and features a low thermal resistance of 8°C/W between the junction and the solder point which is crucial when designing to optimise lamp life and performance.
Integral optics provide 100° directivity and a full range of colours are available. A luminous efficacy of 47 lumens /W is quoted.

LGXRGB511
The LGXRGB511 is a high power RGB LEDs designed for high intensity full colour lighting applications. Constructed in a 6-pin package allows each LED chip to be driven separately to facilitate series connection of LED’s. This gives the benefit of efficient current drive when multiple units are connected together in arrays.
Dimensions are 8.0 x 9.2mm and colour emission is 620nm Red, 525nm Green and 470nm Blue. Luminous intensity figures when all three chips are illuminated to produce white light is quoted at 30 lumens typical @ 350mA.
Devices are available in wide 120° angle and focused optics at 60° and should be used in conjunction with secondary heat sinking.

BWL3A3
The high intensity BL3A3 series can achieve 150 lumens @350mA drive current with a 120° angle of emission.
Constructed in a robust 8-pin package with integral heatsink for efficient thermal management the pin out allows each LED chip to be driven separately.
The pin-out enables customers the flexibility to configure arrays for specific application requirements. A complete range of colours are available including 3 and 4 chip RGB for colour mix application.

Multicolour RGB device is 6-pin
The SC63RTB multicolour RGB LED is constructed in a compact 6 pin PLCC package and has the benefit of all 3 LED chips being terminated externally allowing each LED chip to be controlled separately. The device enables a wide range of colour to be generated by colour mixing. The package outline is 3.2x3.0x1.7mm and is designed for low current drive with each chip rated at 20mA. The viewing angle is also optimized to 120° for display applications. The package is encapsulated with silicone to ensure excellent product lifetime.

Cost Effective High Performance
With additional investment in the latest automated production equipment our LED efficiencies and product yields have dramatically increased. Using high volume assembly lines manufacturing costs have been significantly reduced, this has resulted in driving down the unit cost of InGaN ultra bright LED lamps. Emission angles range from 15° to 60° across the colours Red, Green, Blue and White. Devices in true green with a 20 degree field of view can achieve 6cd Other package options including Oval and diffused lenses for wide field of view are also available. Parts are supplied ranked for wavelength and intensity to ensure consistency of illumination. Applications include designer lighting, signalling and signage.

Super Nova White Lens
For extreme high intensity light output the revolutionary Super Nova high flux LED with optics provides an energy efficient solution. Designed for high current drive this efficient package allows new lighting applications to be realised. Rated for 350mA drive the device produces a typical output of 12 lumens with a 40° radiation.

Full Colour RGB Displays
Using the latest high intensity surface mount PLCC packages to construct Dot Matrix modules a wide angle of view can be achieved with consistent light output and colour rendition. The RGB display is based on InGaN chip material with Green emission at 525nm and Blue at 470nm dominant. The modules meet the standard 8x8 format with dimensions of 60x60mm using a 5mm diameter pixel dot.

Winstar Nu-Blue LCD’s
We are pleased to announce Blue-STN character and graphics displays with long-life white LED backlights, from ISO9001 accredited LCD manufacturer, Winstar. Increasingly customers are looking for a “differentiator” when showcasing their products, so moving away from the traditional yellow/green LCD screens to the high contrast white on blue displays from Winstar is ideal for adding a cutting edge appearance to products already utilising standard STN displays.
All Winstar character modules are available with this technology, and offer crisp white characters on a dark blue background, whilst maintaining compatibility with the industry standard HD44780 driver format. All character modules have a built in HD44780 controller (or equivalent). All standard character modules are also available with an extended operating temperature range.
Previously the only way of achieving a true “white on blue” appearance with graphics modules was to use expensive lamps, which also required a costly and noisy inverter. With a long life white LED’s employed in many of Winstar’s standard graphics modules, this is no longer the case. Images can even be inversed in order to give blue text/graphics on white background. As with all Winstar graphics modules, a choice of feature rich controllers is generally available as well as factory integrated touchscreens.
